Montserrat Day Trip

A Private Visit to Catalonia’s Sacred Mountain

One of the best trips you can take outside of Barcelona is to Montserrat. This private tour gives you the chance to visit the 1,000-year-old monastery, see the Holy Image of the Virgin of Montserrat, and better understand why this mountain sanctuary is so important to the Catalan people. Along the way, you’ll also take in some of the spectacular views that have made Montserrat one of the most memorable places to visit in Catalonia. Below is a sample itinerary for a 5-hour trip designed to beat the crowds and have you back in Barcelona around lunchtime, though the experience can always be adjusted to fit your group’s interests and pace. If you’d like to stay for the midday prayer and hear the famous Escolania, Montserrat’s Boys’ Choir, sing at 1:00 PM, the tour can be adapted to include more time on the mountain or a later departure from Barcelona.

Private Transfer

A private car and driver is the fastest way to get to Montserrat, allowing you to take best advantage of your time!

Great Photo Opportunities

Montserrat offers some incredible photo opportunities all around.

Visit the Throne

Entrance to the basilica and a visit to the Virginof Montserrat are included. Tickets to the Museum of Montserrat are an additional cost.

Best Views

While optional, I recommend a short walk out to Saint Michael's Cross for some of the best views of the Monastery. You will need a moderate level of fitness and good shoes!
