Day Trip to Girona

Girona Day Trip

A Full Day Adventure

After a short ride on the high-speed train, you’ll arrive in one of the most enjoyable cities to visit from Barcelona. What makes Girona so special to me is the way it brings together stories and legends, beautiful streets, hidden alleys, and a calm atmosphere that makes it a pleasure to explore. Its Gothic architecture, medieval walls, and garden spaces give the city a character that feels both historic and inviting. Together, we’ll walk through the old city, explore one of the best preserved Jewish Quarters in Spain, visit the cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in the world, and take in some of the views that make Girona such a memorable place. Along the way, there will also be time to enjoy a traditional Catalan lunch and experience the city at a comfortable pace. The tour begins and ends at Barcelona Sants, the city’s main train station. A sample itinerary is included below, though the day can always be adjusted to fit your group’s interests and pace.

Round Trip Train

The AVE, Spain's high speed train, is the fastest and best way to get to Girona. Your tickets will be included in the price of the tour.

Private Tour of Girona

Reviews

My wife, 12-year old daughter and I had a fantastic day walking through Girona with Patrick. We hiked up and around the city walls, explored the old town as well as shopping areas, posed for GOT pics, saw Arabic Baths, had lunch, and visited the Jewish Museum. Learned tons of history and just had a great time. Patrick is a great guide, speaks English perfectly (he is American) and knows most of the tricks and shortcuts you'd expect from a resident. He is engaging and there was no question we threw at him that he could not answer. Definitely worth the trip!

We have done walking tours in many cities and countries and Patricks’s was the best! He knows the history and facts and is very engaging. Patrick adds fun stories and anecdotes in order to keep even the youngest visitors interested. Everyone in our group had a great time. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we hired Patrick to take us to Girona for a private tour where he took us to a great restaurant enjoyed by the locals. I hope to return to Barcelona and will definitely be contacting Patrick to show us an insiders view of the city.
