Best Irish Pubs in Barcelona to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day

I have always loved the Spanish tradition of congratulating each person on their patron saint day.  I especially love that everyone is out to celebrate mine!  Saint Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and to help you celebrate the best day of the year (no bias here!) here is my list of the best Irish Pubs where you can celebrate March 17th in style.  All of these recommendations also double as great places to watch any of the FC Barcelona games.  Grab a pint and enjoy!

1. George Payne

Any Irish Pub list in Barcelona has got to start here.  Barcelona’s largest Irish bar and one with some seriously great food.  All sorts of different deals from buckets of beer to nachos and burgers.  This is the place I ended up going quite a bit in my first year in the city and has become quite the popular place.  So you want to get there early before it fills up.  Also a greta place for March Madness, which fortunately is right around the corner as well!

Location: Plaça Urquinaona, 5
Closest Metro: Urquinaona (L1, L4)

2. Michael Collins

I actually spent last Saint Patrick’s Day here after finishing a tour outside of the Sagrada Familia.  The bar is right across the street from the Passion Façade.  Good food and pretty spacious despite looking very narrow, there’s a lot more space in the back.

Location: Plaça Sagrada Familia, 4
Closest Metro: Sagrada Familia (L2,L5)

3. Dunne’s

It’s been a few Saint Patrick’s Day’s now since I have celebrated here, but I have always liked this place and one that I will stop at quite often.  Great location, right off the Via Laietana in between the Gothic Quarter and the Born.  Great beers on tap and a nice lunch menu if you are ever around during the day to check out the interior.

Location: Via Laietana 19
Closest Metro: Jaume I (L4)

4. Flaherty’s

A little hidden, but just off Las Ramblas, Flaherty’s is another spacious bar that would be a lot of fun.  The layout is basically one giant open space, with a smaller room in the back for pool and some more tables.  It’s also got a decent outdoor patio which none of the other bars on the list have due to their locations.  Flaherty’s basically has its own plaza out in front with tables.

Location: Plaça Joaquim Xirau s/n
Closest Metro: Drassanes, Liceu (L3)

5. Cocovail

Not an Irish bar (it’s an American place) but I felt it needed to belong on the list when talking about where to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day.  Covered with college pennants and full of TV screens, this is another great spot for March Madness and a has an incredible selection of local craft beers on tap for some cool vibes this March 17th!

Location: Carrer d’Aragó, 284
Closest Metro: Passeig de Gracia (L2, L3, L4)
